You do not need the Wylie Bay beach drive
Sealed 2WD to Lucky Bay is the core visit. Optional beach 4WD from Wylie Bay is tides, soft sand and expensive recoveries — not a shortcut.

Beach driving at Lucky Bay

The park’s main attractions including Lucky Bay are on sealed road from Esperance. That is the visit. The optional ~22 km beach drive from Wylie Bay is a different activity: tides, soft sand, recovery risk. Official guidance flags beaches as notoriously treacherous for vehicles.
Not walked for this date — planning from Explore Parks WA / DBCA public pages. Confirm live alerts, fees and track status before you travel.
When beach driving is a separate day
Low tide windows, recovery gear, experience, and a vehicle that is allowed on sand. If any of those are missing, use Cape Le Grand Road. Rossiter’s unsealed spur is still not the Wylie Bay run — confirm live surface advice on Explore Parks.
What the sealed visit already includes
Lucky Bay, Hellfire, Thistle Cove and the Frenchman Peak trailhead are 2WD on sealed park roads in ordinary conditions. That is the core Cape Le Grand day. Tours that drive sand are a bought product — not a DIY briefing.

Do tours drive the beach?
Some Esperance operators sell a 4x4 beach product toward Lucky Bay. That is their inclusions, tides and insurance — not a DIY briefing. Park fees stay official.
