Park overview
Cape Le Grand National Park is a granite-and-white-sand coast about 50–56 km east of Esperance. Most day visitors sample Lucky Bay rather than walking the whole Coastal Trail. This hub is how you pick a precinct that matches time, heat and energy, then open a deeper area guide.
Always verify live conditions on the official Explore Parks WA / DBCA park page and alerts. This site is independent and unofficial.

How to choose an area
First visit, limited time: Lucky Bay. Plan B if the car park is full: Hellfire or Thistle Cove.
Short hard walk: Frenchman Peak — only on dry granite.
Coastal walking: Thistle–Lucky (Class 3) before any Class 5 section.
Where you sleep: Park Stay at Lucky Bay or Le Grand Beach, or Esperance town. Vehicle entry is a separate system from camping.
Quieter east / west bookends: Le Grand Beach (14-site camp, Mt Le Grand backdrop) and Rossiter Bay (bird thickets, unsealed spur in parts). Skip Rossiter on a Lucky Bay-only first day.
Recommended order: Esperance supplies → Lucky Bay → one extra (peak or another bay) → reverse or camp (booked). Stacking peak + Class 5 + three bays is the usual failure.
Geography in plain English
Think of visitor Cape Le Grand as a sealed road east of Esperance with signed bays (Lucky, Hellfire, Thistle, Le Grand Beach, Rossiter) and a granite dome (Frenchman Peak). Esperance is where you eat, sleep (if not camping) and refill water. Commercial 4x4 beach tours are separate products with their own tickets and clocks.
There is no practical public transport into the park. Drivers should budget 30–45 minutes each way from Esperance. Perth is ~8+ hours — not a day-trip. We recognise and acknowledge Wudjari people as Traditional Owners. This site does not speak for Traditional Owner groups or for DBCA.

Hellfire Bay & Thistle Cove
Best for: Overflow when Lucky Bay is full; photographers; Coastal Trail sections
Quieter granite-framed bays west of Lucky Bay. Thistle Cove has the whistling rock. Hellfire is the usual Plan B car park and a Class 5 Coastal Trail trailhead.

Le Grand Beach & Rossiter Bay
Best for: Quieter camping (Le Grand Beach); walkers staging a full Coastal Trail; beachcombing
West and east bookends of the Coastal Trail. Le Grand Beach has a smaller 14-site campground and Mt Le Grand as a backdrop. Rossiter is quieter, with bird thickets; the spur road can be unsealed in parts.
